Styrofoam Shock
Been busy with company and trying to get some "honey-do's" caught up this past week so I can start some serious prop building. Yesterday I bought some 2" styrofoam and pink foam board from The Home Depot and I have to say the regular price of 2" has gone way up within just a few cents of the pink foam board which was already ridiculously high. Effect of gas prices? I have to find a new source! Except for a lack of storage I could have gotten free styrofoam last year from a fellow haunter's friend that is in the roofing business. He even had the 4" stuff! Feel kind of stupid now that I didn't get at least a couple sheets... live and learn I guess.

of course that would happen the month i plan to do my first project with the stuff. sigh.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about June and styrofoam. We were also at it yesterday doing our regular begging at a local insulation business, he keeps slightly damaged sheets for us for NO CHARGE! We love him♥
ReplyDeleteOn a stranger note, we also had to fill a gap in the basement wall with expanding foam...there was some leftover in the can...being the self respecting Halloween addicts that we are we used that last little bit to make the weirdest looking brain, it grew to mammoth size, now we just have to figure out what to do with it!!
Free styrofoam... Thats ok you can rub salt in my wounds :) I think living up North you probably got the good thick stuff too...
DeleteWell, I guess if it's a small project your ok. Better put that full size styrofoam Mausoleum on hold though!
ReplyDeleteSometime Dollar Tree has poster board sized foam boards that are about 1/4 inch thick for $1. You might try posting on Craigslist or Freecycle indicating that you are looking for free styrofoam - downside it sometimes it is odd shapes because it has been used to pack computers or the like.
